Initiatives & Incentives

The Center promotes clinical social work to governmental and business entities that affect your livelihood and your profession. Guided by the principles set forth in its National Bill of Rights for Clinical Social Workers, the Center has a continuing commitment to safeguard the interests of all clinical social workers, from graduate students to experienced senior practitioners, and to intervene with systems whose policies do not support the advancement of the profession.

The Center’s staff monitors and intervenes with entities ranging from private and public agencies to state licensing boards and legislatures, in areas such as:

  • Graduate education
  • Entry-level practice
  • Standard-setting
  • Professional recognition
  • Compensation
  • Competitiveness
  • Clinical supervision
  • Regulatory matters (state and federal)
  • Third-party payors
  • Workforce training
  • Continuing education
  • Funding of clinical social work research.

As a benefit of your membership, you may confer with Center staffers about business, legal, ethics, and practice issues, including licensure, supervision, hours of experience, insurance reimbursement, advertising, scope of practice, managed care, custody issues, reporting responsibilities, and handling contracts and subpoenas.
