Education

The professional life-cycle of the clinical social worker begins in the master’s-degree program of a school of social work, where the student comes to absorb values and ethics, to learn theories and methods, and to engage in the supervised practice that, taken together, comprise the foundation for a career as a competent practitioner. As with any other true profession, clinical social work requires that graduate education be informed by standards and imparted at a high level of thoroughness by qualified faculty. The Center, which sponsors a scholarship awards program, works with graduate schools to foster quality in the curricula and offers support to any graduate school wishing to pursue a career in bio-psychosocial direct practice.

Continuing education for the practicing professional is another area of interest for the Center, which seeks to raise the levels of quality and accessibility in this area of ongoing professional development.
